Summer vacation is winding down as most schools start next week. I want to wish all of you students good luck on the upcoming year. We are always looking for something to do, right? Well, this past Saturday I did one of the most fun things I have done in a long time. My husband, best friend and I went to a murder mystery party.
Hey everyone - FYI Alan Autosports of Masontown will have their local built GT Malan Supercar featured on the Speed Channel, at 10 p.m. today. The Supercar has made appearances at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, the World of Wheels as well as being partnered with Jeff Andretti Coaching Group.
This is quite an exciting week. First, I spent a wonderful night Monday at the Fayette County Fair, and I was so excited to see all of you at the Herald-Standard and Fay-Penn booths. We gave away a bunch of T-shirts, stickers, balloons, fans and newspapers, and it was really nice getting to chat with all of you as well.
Well, after a relaxing weekend at Presque Isle State Park, I am back in southwestern Pennsylvania. Let me tell you, if you’ve never been to Presque Isle, which is about 4 miles from Erie, Pa., make sure you visit sometime. It’s the perfect beach fix without the long drive, and if I didn’t know better, I would have thought I was at Myrtle Beach or Ocean City. You have your waves, your sand and your wind. That’s pretty beachy to me.
Is it ever going to cool down or rain here in southwestern Pennsylvania? I don't know about all of you, but this hot, hot weather is kind of making me wish it were winter again. OK, before you start writing me hate mail, I'll just say that the heat makes me say crazy things.
Happy Fourth of July and Happy Blueberry Month. Enjoy the Fourth festivities this Sunday at the Uniontown Mall and other neighboring communities. Uniontown Mall's event begins at 5 p.m., and Masontown begins their activities at noon at German-Masontown Park. Merrittstown starts at 12:30 p.m.

It's spring. The grass is green, the sun is getting warmer, the flowers are blooming and the birds are chirping+and trying to peck the glass out of my windows.

I was excited to hear from so many of you after you read last week’s column. It’s nice to see that there are a lot of shopaholics out there just like me. And, believe me, it’s going to get worse. I received a lot of calls and emails last weekend about the Buy Local Community Discount Card that is going to be available Monday.
I had one of the most fun times last weekend watching a mixed martial arts competition in Ohio. We went to see one of my good friends, A.J., in his debut fight. I have to say seeing this on television and in real life are two very different things.
So, as you all know, I got a new car last week - one with windows that roll down by pushing a button. I can't believe I've finally entered the '90s.
Well, this past weekend was definitely a nice introduction to the official start of spring. And it really felt like spring on Sunday when I made my first trip of the season to the Perryopolis Flea Market. Now while it wasn’t in full swing yet, the flea market on Sunday was filled with plenty of people and bargains.
