David Butler captured the Democratic nod in Tuesday's election for a six-year term as township supervisor with 187 votes over challenger Roy Thayer who received 154 votes, based on unofficial results with 67 percent of precincts reporting as of press time.

Butler and Thayer were each seeking to fill the post currently held by incumbent Bill Geary, who is retiring.

Butler is a Bullskin native whose father and brother also served as supervisor.

Butler has 30 years of experience in construction and formerly operated his own business.
