A plastic gas can and $16 worth of diesel fuel were taken from a residence on Bobtown Road in Dunkard Twp. between 2 and 3:30 p.m. Jan. 9, state police said. The owner is Robert Wayne Shingleton of Bobtown.
Two people were injured in a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 79 in Washington Twp. at 2:09 p.m. Jan. 11, state police said. A vehicle driven by Kira R. Stefanik, 21, of Morgantown, W.Va., was traveling south in the left lane when the vehicle went slightly off the left shoulder.
Stefanik then crossed the right lane and shoulder and struck the embankment on the left side of the road, causing the 2007 Ford Focus to roll over. The vehicle continued on its roof and then flipped upright, ejecting passenger Angela B. Chisler, 24, of Fairview, W.Va. Neither Stefanick nor Chisler were wearing seatbelts, police said. Both were taken by ambulance to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., for treatment of moderate injuries. Police said Stefanick was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
State police said charges of simple assault are expected to be filed against a 30-year-old Waynesburg man after he allegedly assaulted a loss prevention officer working at Walmart in Franklin Twp at 4:34 p.m. Jan. 14. Police said the suspect struck the victim in the face and shoved him several times, causing a bloody lip, swollen cheek and several scratches.
State police said vehicles driven by Maryann DeMarco, 59, of Canonsburg and Charity L. McCann, 23, of Waynesburg were involved in a collision that occurred on Route 188 in Morgan Twp. at 3:45 p.m. Jan. 16. DeMarco and a passenger in her vehicle were not injured in the crash, but McCann and a passenger in her vehicle, David Bennett, 25, of Waynesburg, sustained minor injuries in the accident, police said.
State police said vandals smashed the window of a car owned by Judith Huffman of Waynesburg while it was parked at a business in Greensboro between 7:05 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. Jan. 15.
Michael Travis Hodgson, 22, of Nemacolin was charged with disorderly conduct following a disturbance at a residence at Mountainview Gardens in Franklin Twp. around 10:30 p.m. Jan. 16, state police said.

Wagon wheels stolen
State police said someone stole two steel wagon wheels from the yard of Richard Conaway of Waynesburg sometime between 9 and 11 a.m. Jan. 14.
State police said Darin Keith Neely of Morgantown, W.Va., was driving a car north on Interstate 79 in Whiteley Twp. at 5:45 p.m. Jan. 21 under icy conditions when he lost control and struck a guardrail. Police reported Neely suffered a minor injury and the car received moderate damage.
State police said Emilio J. Collins Jr., 27, of Uniontown was driving a car east on Route 21 in Monongahela Twp, at the Masontown Bridge at 10:12 a.m. Jan. 17 when it struck a guardrail, was deflected towards the eastbound lane and struck the eastbound guardrail. No injuries were reported. Members of the Carmichaels-Cumberland Fire Department offered assistance.
State police said Rodney D. Cogar, 34, of Waynesburg was arrested on a charge of public drunkenness after he allegedly created a disturbance at a residence on Pisgah Ridge Road at 5 a.m. Jan. 24.
State police said an unknown suspect committed four "quick change" theft transactions at the Walmart store in Franklin Twp. between Dec. 27 and Jan. 19, stealing approximately $315 from the store. On one occasion, the suspect fled the scene in a teal or medium blue colored, four-door Chevrolet Corsica that had paint chipping off of the hood and roof.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 20 to 25 years of age, with short brown hair and a thin goatee. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact state police at 724-627-6151.
Edward George Hale Jr., 53, of Fairview, W.Va., was arrested for driving under the influence following a traffic stop on Route 21 in Center Twp. at 2:15 a.m. Jan. 23, state police said.
State police said Melanie J. VanRiper, 53, of Washington was traveling on Interstate 79 in Washington Twp. at 1:05 a.m. Jan. 20 when she impacted a wheel lying in the roadway. VanRiper was not injured in the accident, police said.
