Frazier sweeps West Greene

Frazier remained undefeated in Section 5-A action Tuesday with another sweep, defeating West Greene, 3-0, by the scores of 25-10, 25-14, 25-7.

The Lady Commodores (9-0, 9-0) has a key section match on the road Thursday at Jefferson-Morgan.

Jessica Wilson had a strong effort for Frazier with 21 service points. Caitlin Fidel finished with eight kills and Giovanna Bitonti had nine assists.

Carmichaels 3, California 1 - The Lady Trojans won the second set to tie the match, only to have the Lady Mikes prevail in the next two sets for a Section 5-A road victory. Carmichaels won the first set, 25-23. California rallied in the second set, 25-11, and the Lady Mikes won the next two, 25-23, 25-16.

Cameron Grimes led the way for Carmichaels with 13 service points. Alex Ferek added 11. Jessica Hair had four blocks in the victory.

Carmichaels (4-5, 4-8) hosts Geibel Catholic Thursday night. California (4-6, 4-7) returns to action Thursday against Avella.

Peters Twp. 3, Albert Gallatin 0 - The Lady Colonials were swept at home, losing in three sets to the Lady Indians, 25-17, 25-17, 25-14. Albert Gallatin falls to 0-12 in the section and 2-14 overall.

Beth-Center 3, Laurel Highlands 2 - The two Section 7-AA teams battled back and forth, but the Lady Bulldogs eventually prevailed in the fifth set for a hard-fought victory over the Fillies.

Beth-Center won the first set, 25-18, but the visitors tied the match, 25-22. The Lady Bulldogs pulled ahead by winning the third set, 25-22, only to have the Fillies force a fifth set with a 25-17 victory.

Beth-Center secured the victory with a close 15-13 win in the final set.

Crystal Tish led Beth-Center (10-1, 12-1) with 28 service points. Rachel Pagac had a nice all-around performance with 11 blocks and 10 kills, as did Lindsey Coffey with 14 kills and 25 service points. Breigh Devecka finished with 24 service points, and Gabby Jones added 17 service points.

Trinity Christian 2, Brownsville 0 - After a scoreless first half, the visitors scored a pair of goals for a Section 1-A victory over the Falcons. Brownsville keeper Don Thomas kept the Falcons in the match with 24 saves.

Trinity Christian improves to 9-3-0 in the section and 0-16-0 overall. Brownsville remains winless, falling to 0-12-0 in the section and 0-16-0 overall.

Waynesburg 4, Chatham 1 - Courtney Ebersole scored a pair of goals - the first and final goals of the match - to lead the Yellow Jackets to a PAC home victory.

After Ebersole's seventh goal of the season made it 1-0, teammate Sarah Spicuzza scored late in the first half for a 2-0 lead at halftime. Katie Gaspich scored four minutes into the second half, and Ebersole's eighth goal capped the scoring.

Connellsville grad Katrina Kelly made only one save to preserve the victory.

Waynesburg (1-2, 5-8) travels to Grove City Saturday for another conference match.

Washington & Jefferson 3, Waynesburg 0 - The Presidents swept past the visiting Yellow Jackets, winning in three sets, 25-16, 25-13, 25-16. Waynesburg slips to 1-9 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference and 4-16 overall, while Washington & Jefferson improves to 6-2 in the conference and 11-9 overall.
