Uniontown held a slim 19-14 lead at the end of three quarters, but the Red Raiders scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to defeat Laurel Highlands, 40-22, in Keystone Conference play Friday at Bill Power Stadium, and earn a home playoff game.
Arnold Walker's 61-yard touchdown run with at 11:33 of the fourth gave Uniontown (5-1, 6-3) a 26-14 lead after Lucas Mosco's PAT. Walker ran for 211 yards on 25 carries and scored two touchdowns.
Teammates Fred Johnson and Jake Forsythe tacked on touchdown runs of 20 and 40 yards respectively to put the game out of the Mustangs' reach. Forsythe had 154 yards rushing on 17 carries and scored two touchdowns.
Laurel Highlands (3-3, 3-6) relied on Carmen Congelio's arm, and held a 14-13 lead at halftime when Matt Shull pulled in a nine-yard touchdown pass from Congelio with :35.7 remaining in the second quarter.
Congelio was 10 of 28 for 210 yards and had two touchdown passes. Shull hauled in seven passes for 116 yards and a touchdown.

Jefferson-Morgan 42, Mapletown 8
Good Knight!
JEFFERSON -- That's what Mapletown's defenders are saying after Jefferson-Morgan's senior tailback Ryan Knight ran for a season-high 231 yards en route to a Tri-County South Conference victory.
Jefferson-Morgan (7-2, 5-2) finished a perfect 4-0 at home and has beaten the Maples (1-8, 1-6) for the fourth straight year. In those four victories, J-M has outscored the Maples, 124-30.
With the WPIAL playoffs already clinched, the Rockets could have overlooked the Maples, but thanks to 28 points in the second quarter, J-M gave its 11 seniors the win on Senior Night.
It was a battle of offenses with different philosophies, and when it came down to it, the Rockets' ground game was more potent than the Maples' air attack.
Mapletown's senior wide receiver Jarrett Porterfield, who led Class A with 45 receptions heading into the game, was limited to only three catches for 101 yards, while senior signal collar Cory Minnick, who tops the passing list in Class A, was shutdown with only 118 yards on 6-of-21 attempts with two interceptions.
Knight had three scores in the second quarter and added a 15-yard plunge in the third quarter to finish off this regular season with a team-high 18 touchdowns.
Senior running back Brent Moskola dashed for a three-yard score in the second quarter while sophomore tailback Chris Saw tallied a 32-yard score in the fourth quarter.
In between those two J-M touchdowns, Minnick hooked up with Porterfield for a 78-yard catch-and-run for the only Mapletown touchdown. On the two-point conversion, Minnick once again hooked up with Porterfield.

Belle Vernon 37, Elizabeth-Forward 9
ROSTRAVER TWP. - Belle Vernon spotted visiting Elizabeth-Forward an early nine-point lead but stormed back with 37 unanswered points to defeat the Warriors in the regular-season finale and secure a Big 7 Conference berth in the WPIAL AAA playoffs.
Sophomore Matt Green led the Leopards with 201 yards on 21 carries, including a 13-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to open Belle Vernon's scoring. Green, who rushed for 1,122 yards on 167 attempts for the season, had runs of 32, 38, and 39 yards to lead the Leopards ((5-4, 3-3). Green posted 10 rushing touchdowns for the season.
"We were a slow-starting team defensively all season," first-year Belle Vernon coach Aaron Krepps said, "and we put ourselves in a tough position early. A playoff berth was on the line and it was senior night, and maybe there were some nerves out there."
With two seconds remaining in the first half, Joey Walko's 32-yard field goal gave the Leopards a 10-9 halftime lead, and it was all Belle Vernon in the second half.
After Belle Vernon quarterback Brandon Dilmore threw a pair of first-quarter interceptions - both of which came on passes that bounced off his receivers' hands - he completed his final five passes for 49 yards and one touchdown, a 24-yard pass to Michael Thayer in the third quarter.
"We improved each week," Krepps said. "At the beginning of the season we thought we had the potential to be a playoff team, and the kids responded. They exceeded our expectations. We grew as a team each week. We're the no. three seed in the toughest conference in the WPIAL. I'm proud of the way these kids responded this season."
Elizabeth Forward concluded its regular season with a 4-5 record, 1-5 in conference.

Frazier 8, Bentworth 0
PERRYOPOLIS-Frazier's Chase Kirmeyer rushed for 133 yards and scored the game's only touchdown as the Commodores finished their season with an 8-0 Black Hills Conference victory over Bentworth.

Interceptions by Ron Holp and Josh Guiser stopped two other Bentworth drives in Frazier territory as the Commodores ended the season with a 4-5 overall record, and 3-4 mark in the conference.

Waynesburg Central 29, Brownsville 19
On Senior Night, Waynesburg Central halfback John Sinnott made every second and inch count.
Sinnot converted three third downs with the Raiders ahead 21-13 late in the game before breaking a 27-yard run for his fourth and final touchdown to give the Raiders a 29-13 lead in Interstate Conference action.
The Falcons scored on a Tre Hall 3-yard run to cut the lead to 29-19 with 1:32 left in the game but failed to control their ensuing onside kick.
Sinnott scored his first two touchdowns in the first four minutes of the game with  one-  and six-yard runs ,respectively, the second coming after the Falcons fumbled on their first kickoff return.

You are entitled to your interpretation of this picture but to me Dylan Clifford looks to be fighting a very hard battle to gain some yards and was stopped by several Uniontown players. I know he has put his heart and soul into this years football season playing both sides of the ball and special teams a little better press would have been nice. I also feel that Uniontown’s defensive line and offensive line is the best I’ve seen for a long time.
