FARMINGTON - While numerous dignitaries attending the G-20 Summit in Pittsburgh this week will be staying at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort & Spa, most people in the area likely won't even know the international guests are there.

Chris Plummer, assistant general manager of the resort, said there likely would be no traffic or security issues as a result of the distinguished guests.

The guests will be treated to the most luxurious accommodations the resort has to offer.

The Chateau Lafayette, designed to replicate the famed Ritz Paris in France, is a tribute to the grand hotels and resorts of Europe.

The Chateau Lafayette features a grand reception lobby, tea room, cigar bar, jewelry store, upscale clothing boutique and an award-winning restaurant with French-flair, Lautrec.

The Chateau Lafayette also features some exquisite pieces from the $45 million Hardy Family Art Collection. The Chateau Lafayette features 124 lavish rooms with vaulted ceilings with crown molding, crystal chandeliers and two-story Palladian windows.

Plummer would not reveal exactly who involved with the G-20 will be staying at the resort, citing privacy reasons.

Plummer said the restaurants and other amenities at the resort that are open to the public will remain that way while the guests are staying there.

"It will be no different. We host groups similar to that all the time," Plummer said.

Plummer said the resort would work with the guests to accommodate any special requests they may have, including visiting Fayette County sites if they desire.

The G-20 summit, being hosted by President Barack Obama, is being held Thursday and Friday at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

Attending the G-20 Summit will be leaders from countries around the world that represent 85 percent of the world's economy. Leaders will review the progress made since the Washington, D.C., and London summits and discuss further actions to assure a sound and sustainable recovery from the global financial and economic crisis.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs previously said that Pittsburgh was selected because of its comeback from the demise of the steel industry and a new commitment to green technology for economic development.

More than 3,500 international delegates and journalists are expected to attend the summit.

Plummer previously said resort officials are not anticipating any protestors, but they are equipped to handle any security issues that would arise.

"We were selected because of our exposure with special security requests and guests of this nature," Plummer said.

Former presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton have been to Nemacolin Woodlands.

As the largest employer in Fayette County, Plummer said Nemacolin Woodlands would benefit from G-20 visitors.

"We are ecstatic for the resort and the region, which is long overdue to exposure of this magnitude," Plummer said.

The G-20 is made up of the finance ministers and central bank governors of 19 countries including: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, United Kingdom and the United States of America.

The European Union, which is represented by the rotating council presidency and the European Central Bank, is the 20th member of the G-20.
