Labor Day festival

All Saints Church will host its 46th annual Labor Day Festival from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 3 and from 3 to 10 p.m. Sept. 4 on the church grounds in Masontown. A variety of food, entertainment and family fun will be available each evening. The Rev. John Butler, pastor, festival Chairman Bob Pope and the parish family of All Saints invite everyone to attend.

Food featured each evening will include halushki (cabbage & noodles), holupki (stuffed cabbage), pieroghi, hot sausage sandwiches, Texas burgers, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken wings, pizza, curly fries, funnel cakes, fried dough, baked goods, ice cream and confections.

Daily games and activities will include golf, basketball, darts, Plush Pic-a-Tickets, Roll Down, instant bingo, games of chance and raffles. A special “Kiddie Corner” will feature games and activities for children. There will be a special Kid’s Time from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

A daily cash prize of $100 will be awarded. Winners do not need to be present. The following cash prizes will be awarded Sept. 4: $1,000; $300, $200 and four prizes of $100 each. To participate, purchase a raffle ticket at the umbrella stand or the parish office. Tickets are $1 or $20 for a book of 25. Those purchasing a book will qualify for a special raffle Sept. 4 in which eight $25 bonus awards will be given on Sunday.

There will be live musical entertainment throughout the festival. The Dynasonics Band will play from 7 to 10 p.m. Sept. 3 and the Vibrations from 3 to 5 and 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 4.

Polka Mass, festival dinner

All Saints Parish will celebrate a Polka Mass today at noon. Music will be provided by the Vibrations Band. Immediately following the Mass, the parish will host its annual festival dinner at the parish social hall , 215 W. Church Ave., Masontown. Dinners will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The public may attend. The menu will feature a roast beef dinner prepared by John Chahl, along with mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, salad, roll and butter, dessert and beverage prepared by the All Saints Parish cooks under the direction of Donna Chatlak. The cost is $8 for adults; $4 for children under age 12; free for children under age 3.

Take-outs will be available.

There also will be a 50/50 raffle and Festival Baskets will be on display. Dinner patrons will get a sneak peak at the baskets and will be able to take chances that day.

Italian Ladies Circle

The Masontown Italian Ladies Circle will meet at 6 p.m. Sept. 7 at the club social hall. Everyone is invited to visit with friends and enjoy an evening of conversation and fun activities.

Truckload sale

The Footedale Volunteer Fire Department will hold a food truckload sale from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of Hranec Corp. on Route 21. Orders can be placed with the fire department by calling 724-245-8160.
