Lions

The Perryopolis Lions Club has been busy. Members recently held their annual spaghetti dinner at the Sons of Italy and it was a huge success. Thank you to all who helped make it happen, volunteering their time or stopping in to eat. Also, a big thank you goes to those involved in helping making some home repairs for a local resident. The Lions Club, Randall’s Restaurant and the Senior Citizen’s Center were all instrumental in accomplishing that. The annual White Cane Day will be coming up in September, so come out and support their efforts by making a monetary donation, purchasing a broom, garbage bags or cleaning cloths. Remember all monies received are donated to needy organizations. If you would like to become a member, the Lions meet on every second and fourth Wednesday at 6:30?p.m. at the Star Junction United Methodist Church for dinner and a meeting.

Rick report

Lacking any recent bear sightings, our Crabby has started watching for other dangerous creatures in the neighborhood. She has noticed a very suspicious looking squirrel lurking around the center of town. She named him Rick O’Shay after a squirrel she knew in college. They named the squirrel that because he bounced off trees and ricocheted to the next tree. Rick the squirrel has been seen nibbling things under the trees on Circle Street. He seems particularly fond of the telephone building since they have several black walnut trees. Rick has been seen casing houses, looking up at the windows as if he’d like to climb in. To avoid squirrels, you could try singing and carrying bells, but probably putting moth balls and cat hair in the yard would work just as well.
