Altar Society news
Members of St. John’s Altar Society of Perryopolis will hold its July meeting at 6?p.m. Thursday at the Sokol Pavilion. Members on the social committee are Mary Rathway, chairman; Anna Mae Warnick, Carol Coldren, Linda Skibo, Kathy Kifer and Dee Domonkos.
Cancer benefit
A benefit to help pay the medical bills for two local residents will be held at Sampey Park from 11?a.m. to 8?p.m. Saturday.
Activities will include food for sale, music, civil war re-enactment/grist mill tours, wagon rides, car show, raffles, silent auction and other events.
Come out and support this good cause. Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to call 412-670-0397.
Pirate game
The Sons of Italy will be taking a bus to the Pirate game on Aug. 7. Cost per person is $35. The price includes ticket and bus ride. The seats are in section 124. If interested, call Chrissy at 412-760-8518.
Community yard sale
Jefferson Township will hold a community yard sale from 8?a.m. to 2?p.m. Saturday at the Jefferson Township Municipal Park, 262 Stuckslager Road, Perryopolis. Residents of Jefferson Township are to set up at 7?a.m. There is no charge. Bring your own table, cart, tarp, etc. The concession stand will be open. Proceeds benefit the Parks Committee. No commercial vendors are permitted.
Bear photo fakes
The photos of the bears at the Big Barn and the Dairy Queen that have circulated around Perryopolis like wildfire were created using Photoshop. The person who created them confessed and said he had no intention of frightening the residents. To prove that he created the photos using his computer, he posted on Facebook a photo he made of Bigfoot in front of the Save A Lot.
Frazier fall physicals
Physicals for the following fall sports will be performed in the nurse’s office by the school doctor Aug. 5 beginning at 9?a.m. for the varsity, junior varsity and middle school football players.
Physicals for the following fall sports will be performed Aug. 12 beginning at 9?a.m.: varsity cross country, varsity golf, varsity volleyball, middle school girls basketball, varsity and middle school cheerleaders.
“Permission for Athletic Participation” forms can be found in the high school or business office. They can also be accessed and printed from the Frazier School District website.
Before arriving for a physical, the forms must be completed and signed by the student athlete and his/her parent/guardian.
Physical forms can also be completed by a family doctor. The physical must have been performed after June 1.
No one will be permitted to practice or participate in any school-sponsored sport without the proper physical forms on file with the Athletic Office.
After the physical has been completed and all the necessary signatures and information has been completed, give the form to the coach or the athletic office. Anyone with questions, call Joanne at 724-736-4427.
Fun Run
The Frazier Cross Country team is hosting a free “Run for Fun” running camp for children ages kindergarten through eighth grade from 9:30 to 11?a.m. at Sampey Park.
Circus performance
The Lewis & Clark Circus will present a performance at the Perryopolis Elementary School grounds on July 27 from 5 to 7:30?p.m. The circus is sponsored by the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department. Reduced price adult tickets are available on line at www.lewisandclarkcircus.com. There will be a calliope concert an hour before the show begins.
