Picnic held

Connie Moody and Vauda Wiley hosted a picnic at the Bobtown Methodist Church for members of the Sunday School and Church congregation, guests and friends.

Thirty were in attendance who enjoyed the wiener roast over an open fire and featured the making of the mountain pies.

Games were played and a full picnic menu was enjoyed at the grounds of the church.

The ladies would like to thank everyone who had helped with the donations and prepared the evening of enjoyment and made it a success.

First child

Jerry and Heather Fisher of Taylortown are proudly announcing the birth of their first child, a daughter born Sept. 17 at 11:32 p.m. in the Monongalia General Hospital at Morgantown, W.Va.

She weighed 6 pounds 13 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long.

She has been named Layna Claire.

Grandparents are Laura Sarapa of Bobtown and Mike and Rose Sarapa of Taylortown and Jerry and Marie Fisher and Jim Holbert and Connie Fisher, all of Dilliner.

The mother is the former Heather Sarapa.

UMW meet

On Wednesday evening the United Methodist Women of the Bobtown church met with president, Janice Yoppi presiding over the business.

Bible study preceded the business.

Final plans were made for the fall rummage sale on at the Civic Club Hall. All giving donations for this lunch or items should have them the same as the previous donations. A full lunch menu will be available on Thursday.

Prayers were given and closing with the Missionary Benediction.

Civic Club meets

The monthly meeting of the Shannopin Civic Club at Bobtown was held on Monday evening in the Civic Club Hall with the president, Juanita Cettin, presiding over the business.

The meeting was opened with all repeating the club collect followed the pledge of allegiance.

During the business, six new members were welcomed into the club. Those joining were Tracy Kiger, Rebecca Schartiger, Gina Sowden, Loretta Morris, Jessica Hanlan and Ronda Morris.

Donations to give the club a boost were from Jordan’s, Two Rivers of Dilliner and from Rich and Judy Robinson.

It was voted to have a basket raffle of items pertaining to the holidays of Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Also a Hunters Breakfast will be held at the hall on Nov. 28. Members are being asked to give donations for this occasion.

Officers for the ensuing year will be: Juanita Cettin, president; Gina Sowden, vice president; Jessica Hanlan, recording secretary; Ronda Morris, corresponding secretary; and Laura Sarapa, treasurer.

The monetary gift was won by Jessica Hanlan. It was announced that a plaque will be placed in the library in memory of Suzanne Bilonick Lemke.

The next meeting was scheduled for the third Monday in October at 6 p.m. All to note the time for these meetings.
