Date change
Due to the Labor Day Holiday, Masontown Matters will meet Sept. 12. Plans will be finalized for the upcoming fall activities. Everyone is invited to attend.
Community yard sale
Anyone interested in participating with a free interactive map for the community yard sale is invited to visit the Masontown Matters webpage at www.masontownmatters.org. This map will include your location and items that you may have for sale. Friends intending to visit the sales will access the map and have a quick reference to participating locations.
The “Uptown, Downtown-All Around Masontown Community Yard Sale” will be held Sept. 17.
Dinner/dance
A community dinner/dance will be held on Nov. 12 at Dolfi’s Restaurant in Masontown. Oldies Unlimited will be the featured entertainment and a roast beef dinner has been planned. Tickets will be available, check the Masontown Matters webpage for ticket information.
Italian ladies
The Masontown Italian Ladies Circle will meet Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the club social hall. Everyone is invited to visit with friends and enjoy an evening of conversation and fun activities.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4584 and Ladies Auxiliary would like to extend thanks to the American Band and to everyone who supported a recent cancer fund raiser that was held at the Masontown V.F.W.
Chicken dinner
The German-Masontown Public Library will hold a chicken and biscuit dinner Sept. 25 from noon to 4 p.m. at All Saints Church Social Hall. Meals are $8 for adults and children, 11 and under, $5 each. Advance tickets can be purchased by calling 724-583-0867, 724-583-7429 or 724-583-7037.
Friends of Library
The next meeting of the Friends of the German Masontown Public Library will be held Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. Members are asked to help fill two baskets to be raffled off during the library’s dinner fundraiser. Donated items could include gift cards, gas cards, reading material or any new items that could be included in an adult or child basket. The items will be collected at the Sept. 21 meeting. Checks should be payable to the Friends of the Library. Volunteers are also needed to help with the Sept. fundraiser.
Pal’s Ladies
The Pal’s Club Ladies Auxiliary will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the social club. Chairman will be Sue Schroyer and the $5 gift will be donated by Betty Colebank. Dues for 2012 also will be accepted.
Craft show
The Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will hold a holiday craft show Sept.17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration fee is $20 for the first table and $10 for each additional table. Any interested vendors may contact Renee Dillow at 724-564-0136 for information. Registrations will be accepted until Sept. 10.

The German Township Class of 1981 is planning a reunion for Sept. 17. Call 724 737-0608 for more information.
Blood drive
In order to earn his Eagle Scout Badge, Charles Popovich Jr., a student at Albert Gallatin High School, organized a blood drive Aug. 22 at the V.F.W. and Popovich would like to thank everyone who donated or helped support his efforts in this endeavor. He is a member of Troop 643.
Curriculum night
The Albert Gallatin School District will host its annual curriculum night this week. Please plan to join us for this special event. It serves as a wonderful opportunity to discuss the curriculum, student expectations and classroom procedures with your child’s teachers, administrators and counselors.
On the date Curriculum Night is scheduled in your child’s building, the school will operate on an early dismissal schedule. Dismissal times and dates are specified below. All visitations will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.
Sept 6: Albert Gallatin High School. Students dismissed at 11 a.m.
Sept 7: North and South middle schools. Students will be dismissed at 11:45 a.m.
Sept. 8: All elementary schools. Students will be dismissed at 12:15 p.m.
