The Pittsburgh Pirates will be opening their 2013 season today against the Chicago Cubs and they’ll be carrying on a tradition that stretches back many years. Fayette County has its own baseball tradition, as shown by this photo taken 100 years ago in 1913 of the Mount Braddock baseball team. In the front row (from left) are John Dinsmore, Rep Johnson, Jack Kelly, Ed Lyons and Jess Cole. In the second row (from left) are Saucer Miller, Bubbo Livingston, Moss Kelly, Petero Prettymory, Dom Jeneway and Denny Harvey. The photo was submitted by Joan John of Connellsville. Anyone wishing to submit a “Remember When?” photo can do so by sending it to the Herald-Standard c/o Mark O’Keefe, 8-18 E. Church St., Uniontown, Pa., 15401. Background information for the caption must be included.
