12-04-13 Host of children’s activities as Santa visits Uniontown Public Library
For those who wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate for Christmas, were you as busy on Friday, Saturday and Sunday as I was?
We have ten of those large, clear, plastic bins full of Christmas decorations, so it takes a while to decorate the house, but it’s done!
As we decorate the tree, we reminisce about each ornament and where it came from – happy memories.
I love the feel of the Christmas season.
He’s coming!
We’re almost ready, and I hope you are too….Santa Claus will be here at the Uniontown Public Library at noon Dec. 14 to talk with all the children.
Before he arrives though, our favorite players, Stage Right! From Greensburg will present a delightful Christmas play called The Littlest Elf! When the play is over, the children will be able to make a Christmas craft, have a snack, and then visit with the big guy himself — Santa Claus.
Parents, bring your camera to take a photo of your child with Santa.
As the children are done, each one will receive a new book to take home and a candy cane.
It’s a fun afternoon for the kids and parents, too.
Santa tells us he loves to stop here to see all the children of the Uniontown area.
It’s his favorite place.
Miss Dianne in the Children’s room is selling tickets for some super-special items that she has on display in her room.
All cuddled together in a large basket are the prizes. First, there is a Sponge Bob pillow and his buddy, a fluffy, white teddy bear, all soft and cozy.
I also see an authentic American Girl doll named Kaya in her authentic Indian costume.
Miss Sherry made an original sock monkey stuffed doll, and there is a charming Fancy Nancy doll, too.
Finally, we have a Santa doll in the basket.
Tickets are only $.25 each or eight for one dollar!
You can buy a lot of chances for a little money, and all proceeds benefit the Children’s Room.
With the approach of Christmas, let me remind you that the Uniontown Public Library will be closed Dec. 25 and 26.
Have you picked up the 2014 Restaurant Coupon booklets you’ll need for Christmas presents and stocking stuffers?
At only $20, they’re selling well this year.
We also have George VonBenko’s books for sale this Christmas.
We have Memory Lane, Memory Lane: Volume II, and Sports Talk.
Each book is $15 and they all would make an appropriate gift for the sports fan in your family.
We have scheduled a book signing with George Dec. 13 here in the reading lounge at the library.
Stop in anytime from noon-3 p.m. to pick up your copies and have them signed, too.
Come see us in the library, pick up some books for Christmas gifts, and visit with Santa!
