BROWNSVILLE GARDEN CLUB will meet at 5 p.m. Thursday at Hugo’s Restaurant.

CATHOLIC DAUGHTERS OF AMERICAS COURT BROWNSVILLE NO. 1141 will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday in the North Side Brownsville Fire Hall. The evening will feature a picnic with a business meeting to follow. Catholic women 18 years of age and older are welcome to attend the meeting.

CONNELLSVILLE AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY will hold its annual Flag Day picnic at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Balsley Pavilion at Crawford’s Cabin at Seventh Street and the Youghiogheny River in Connellsville. Members are asked to bring a covered dish to share and their own table service. The society will provide drinks for the event. New members are always welcome. There will be a discussion on the coming 10th annual Braddock’s Crossing.

CONNELLSVILLE TOWNSHIP VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT will have annual Fun Fest Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the station located at 905 Fireman St., Connellsville. Thursday’s events will be from 4 to 11 p.m. and will feature a disc jockey, food, games and Stacks Smokin Barbeque. Friday’s events will be held from 4 to midnight with a car show from 4 to 11 p.m. and a performance by the band Metro from 8 to midnight. Events will take place Saturday from 4 p.m. to midnight including a parade at 5 p.m. and a performance by the band Good Enuff from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. There will also be funnel cakes, hamburgers, hot sausage, hot dogs, craft vendors, a spaghetti dinner, chainsaw woodcarving demonstrations by Mark Keyser and more. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SERVICES OF SOUTHWESTERN PA provides safe shelter and support services for victims of domestic violence and their children. Services are free and confidential. HERALD-STANDARD will serve as a donation center for the Stars for our Troops program that takes old, tattered and worn out American flags and turns them into prized possessions for American soliders at home, on base or overseas. Only flags with embroidered stars will be accepted. Donations can be dropped off at the newspaper office located at 8 E. Church St., Uniontown, until June 21.
