Give-A-Christmas now stands at $8,395
Herald-Standard readers are coming through for Give-A-Christmas, donating $744 in the latest contributions to make the new total $8,395.
“That’s so wonderful,” said Sparkle, the Christmas star, who is mascot for the campaign. “Thanks for all your help. Remember that we want to raise $50,000 for the Salvation Army to help people in your neighborhoods. We really want to make that goal.”
The latest donations came from Brownsville, Uniontown, McClellandtown, Perryoplis, California, Fairchance, Point Marion, East Millsboro, Republic and Newell.
Sparkle also received several nice notes:
“Dear Sparkle, Keep up the good work,” wrote Bernard and Marsha Page of Perryopolis, who gave in memory of Dorothy Livingston, Walter Bell, Bobby Page and Hazel Page.
“For Sparkle and her friends. Merry Christmas and I hope you all be remembered,” wrote anonymous in McClellandtown.
“Our employees and owners wish everyone in the area the best throughout the holiday season,” wrote Clar-Mac Furniture and Appliance Sales of Point Marion.
“Hope you meet all your goals. Merry Christmas and God bless you,” wrote Marlene and Elaine Cushma of California, who gave in memory of parents, Mike and Lillian Cushma.
“Thank you for bringing joy to the holiday season,” wrote Jim and Joyce Matthews of Fairchance.
“Thanks to all you readers who contribute to Give-A-Christmas,” said Sparkle. “And we’re hoping we receive a lot more donations and soon. Remember that we will only collect until noon on Dec. 23. That’s not a lot of time.”
The final amount raised will be reported in the Christmas Eve edition of the Herald-Standard. Donations can be mailed to Give-A-Christmas, c/o Herald-Standard, 8-18 E. Church St., Uniontown, PA 15401 or brought to the Herald-Standard office in Uniontown from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Sparkle cans also have been placed in numerous store locations in the Herald-Standard distribution area.
