Smiths celebrate first wedding anniversary
Today, Cherie and Brent Smith are celebrating their first wedding anniversary. They were united in marriage one year ago at St. Mary (Nativity) R.C. Church in Uniontown. Father Stephen Bugay officiated the ceremony. A reception followed at The Willow Room in Belle Vernon.
The bride is the daughter of MaryAnn Nicholson and Daniel Nicholson both of Uniontown and granddaughter of Mary Posinak and the late Matthew Posinak and the late Carrie Nicholson. The groom is the son of Patricia and Brent Smith of New Salem and grandson of Wilma Lovat and the late Reno Lovat; the late Mary Clark and the late Warren Smith.
Cherie wore a strapless Alencon lace and silk Charmeuse tulle, mermaid-style bridal gown with Swarovski crystal appliques and a chapel train by designer Jim Hjelm. Her cathedral length veil was trimmed completely in Alencon lace and Swarovski crystals. She wore Valentino heels which were also covered in Swarovski crystals.
Matron of honor was Heather Kasovich, sister of the bride, and Whitney Nicholson, best friend of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Patricia Stetson, sister of the groom; Dorothy Rurak, friend of the bride; Courtney Klink, friend of the bride; and Barbara Gencel, friend of the bride. Junior bridesmaid was Gracie Stetson, niece of the groom.
Michael Rutherford and Brandon Smith, best friends of the groom, both served as best man. Groomsmen were Joe Lovat, cousin of the groom; Mike Stetson, brother-in-law of the groom; Nick Ratica, friend of the groom; and Bill Kasovich, brother-in-law of the bride. Michael and Lucas Stetson, nephews of the groom, served as ring bearers.
Cherie is a graduate of Laurel Highlands High School and a 2011 graduate of Pennsylvania State University. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business with emphasis in Management and Marketing with highest honors. She is currently the purchasing manager at Maccabee Industrial Inc.
Brent is a graduate of Brownsville Area High School. He attended California University of Pennsylvania and graduated from Wyo Tech. He is currently the site superintendent at Maccabee Industrial Inc.
The couple is residing in Uniontown.
