GOAL: $50,000

CURRENT TOTAL: $4,755

The Herald-Standard’s Give-A-Christmas fund has made a significant jump thanks to the latest donations by readers, which amounted to $2,395. This places the current total at $4,755.

“That’s so wonderful,” said Sparkle, the Christmas star, who is the official mascot for the campaign. I’m impressed by the generosity of our readers. This is really helping the campaign. Remember that we want to raise $50,000 to help the Salvation Army.”

The most-recent contributions came from Uniontown, Lemont Furnace, Perryopolis, Newell and the state of California.

“It’s nice to see our readers are thinking of others this holiday season,” said Sparkle. “The Salvation Army does much good and the funds stay in the local area. This allows neighbors to help neighbors.”

Donations to the campaign will be accepted until noon on Dec. 23 with the grand total announced in the Christmas Eve edition of the Herald-Standard.

Readers can also contribute by making online donations to the campaign at salvationarmywpa.org/GiveAChristmas, mailing contributions to Give-A-Christmas, c/o Herald-Standard, 8-18 E. Church St., Uniontown, PA 15401 or bringing them to the Herald-Standard office in Uniontown from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Sparkle cans also have been placed in numerous store locations in the Herald-Standard distribution area.
