GOAL: $50,000

CURRENT TOTAL: $10,112.18

Herald-Standard readers donated $705 more to the Give-A-Christmas campaign, raising the current total to $10,112.18.

“That’s great,” said Sparkle, the Christmas star, who is mascot for the campaign. “But remember that we want to raise $50,000 for the Salvation Army to help people in your neighborhoods and we only have two more weeks to reach that goal.”

The latest donations came from Brownsville, Adah, Hopwood, Uniontown, Hiller, East Millsboro, Gibbon Glade and Smithfield.

Sparkle received some nice notes:

“Hope you reach your goal. God bless all of you,” wrote Virginia Allman and family of Uniontown.

“Merry Christmas,” came in two separate notes written by Bandit and Friends on Morris Buncic Road in Smithfield as well as Sam and Patty Franks of Uniontown.

“Thank you so much for the kind words. They warm my heart and give me hope that we will reach our goal,” said Sparkle. “If any of you are considering making a donation, please do so now. We really want to help the Salvation Army take care of people in your neighborhoods and we don’t have much time.”

Donations to the campaign will be accepted until noon on Dec. 23 with the grand total announced in the Christmas Eve edition of the Herald-Standard.
