Give-A-Christmas reaches $18,570
GOAL: $50,000
CURRENT TOTAL: $18,570.68
The Give-A-Christmas fund has reached $18,570.68 with less than a week to go until Christmas.
“We haven’t made it to the half-way mark yet, which causes me to be a bit concerned,” said Sparkle, who is the official mascot for the campaign. “The Salvation Army desperately needs our support to help local families. So we need to cover a lot of ground these next few days.”
The support the fund has received so far is greatly appreciated with another $931.50 being added according to Sparkle.
Those funds came from Uniontown, Point Marion, Crucible and Fairchance.
“The generosity of readers warms my heart,” said Sparkle.
Readers also included notes for Sparkle and made donations in memory of loved ones:
‘Dear Sparkle…in these dark times, we pray that the light that shines so brightly at Christmas will continue to illuminate every dark corner of the earth. We hope that you reach your goal so that those who need help can receive it,’ wrote Carl and Shelley Williams of Uniontown, who gave in memory of Jean and Adrian (Buzzy) Santella.
The Fayette Board of Realtors gave on behalf of its members, offering hopes for a successful campaign and wishing a Merry Christmas to all.
Donations also came from Clar-Mac Furniture and Appliance of Point Marion with wishes from owners and staff for love and peace, as well as contributions from Rachel Linderman, Cristen Cindric, Scott Cavinee, Brenda Lilley all of Uniontown and Audrey Ann Gallo of Cruicible and Miles Baker of Fairchance.
“I am so touched by the generosity of our readers but time is waning so make sure to get your donation in soon,” said Sparkle.
Donations to the campaign will be accepted until noon on Dec. 23 with the grand total announced in the Christmas Eve edition of the Herald-Standard.
Readers can contribute by making online donations to the campaign at salvationarmywpa.org/GiveAChristmas, mail contributions to Give-A-Christmas, c/o Herald-Standard, 8-18 E. Church St., Uniontown, PA 15401 or bring them to the Herald-Standard office in Uniontown from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
