MARC to hold town hall meeting Sept. 19
Monongahela Area Revitalization Corporation will hold its 10th annual town hall meeting 7 p.m. Sept. 19 in the Monongahela Fire Department Social Hall, 431 Main St., Monongahela.
The featured panelists will be the two candidates for the 49th state General Assembly, Republican Bud Cook and Democrat Alan Benyak.
George Eckert, spokesman for MARC, said the annual session is patterned after a New England town meeting. Members of the audience will be encouraged to ask questions of the guest speakers from their seats.
Anthony M. Lombardi will be moderator.
The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
Eckert quoted MARC’s mission statement that it “is a nonprofit corporation made up of volunteers living, working or interested in the sustained development of the greater Monongahela area — New Eagle, Carroll Township and Monongahela. MARC is committed to preserving, enhancing and beautifying the quality of life in our communities.”
MARC meets the third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. in the parlor room of the First Presbyterian Church, 609 Chess St., Monongahela. These meetings are open to the public. The town hall meeting is held in September each year in lieu of MARC’s monthly meeting.
Our goal is to inform the public about what is going on in their communities,” Eckert said.
MARC, which was at one time a member of the Mon Valley Initiative, is in the process of rebuilding the organization and will have a membership drive this fall. MARC sponsors the Pooch Parade and the antique appraisal in May.
