Herald-Standard readers continue to send donations to the Give-A-Christmas campaign that benefits the Salvation Army with donations now totaling $5,019.85.
“I want to thank all of you who are continuing to send us donations during this holiday season,” said Sparkle, the Christmas star, who is official mascot for the campaign. “Remember that we want to reach a goal of raising $25,000 for the Salvation Army and we need help from everyone.”
Sparkle received a nice note with the donations:
“Dear Sparkle, Just wanted to help out a little. Thank you for doing what you do to help others. I know there are a lot of people hurting this year. Merry Christmas,” wrote Sandy and Dee Howell of Smithfield, who gave “in honor of all our beautiful grandchildren. We are so thankful!”
Other donors include Dolores Kozis, in memory of John Kozis, Bill Dominic, Judy Dominic, Vince Todaro, Gene Enfield and Sam Yeardie, Newell; Callahan and Callahan Real Estate, Point Marion; Sharyn Amos, West Brownsville; Carolyn and Bob Tupta, in memory of Dorothy Polach, Uniontown.
“Thanks again for thinking of the campaign and don’t forget that Herald-Standard employees will be at Uniontown Walmart on Friday, Dec. 9 for a collection for Give-A-Christmas,” said Sparkle. “They’ll be giving out newspapers to donors, and we’re hoping for a good turnout.”
Readers can also send donations to Give-A-Christmas, c/o Herald-Standard, 8-18 E. Church St., Uniontown, PA 15401 or drop off a contribution at the Herald-Standard office during business hours.
Donations will continue to be taken until 5 p.m. Dec. 22 and the final amount collected will be announced in the Christmas Day edition of the Herald-Standard.
