Total: $7,794.85

Goal: $25,000

Donations to the Give-A-Christmas fund are slowing down with just $88 received in the latest contributions. The fund that benefits the Salvation Army now stands at $7,794.85.

“I’m a little worried,” said Sparkle, the Christmas star, who is the official mascot for the campaign. “We really want to raise $25,000 to help the Salvation Army in the readership area, and we only have two weeks left in the campaign.”

Sparkle is grateful for the donations that have come in, including these latest:

Pauline Esper, Uniontown; Norma Allison, Perryopolis; C.J. and Dr. Ashleigh Callahan and children Ellie and Nora, Point Marion; Tom and Scarlet Baxter of Farmington, who gave in memory of Charles and Jean Baxter and Mary Danton; and Walter Figut of Uniontown.

“Thank you so much for these contributions. We know every penny counts,” said Sparkle.

The Christmas star also wants to remind everyone that Herald-Standard employees will be at Uniontown Wal-Mart from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today for a collection for Give-A-Christmas and will give out newspapers to donors.

“Please come over if you can and help out,” said Sparkle.

Donations can be sent to Give-A-Christmas, c/o Herald-Standard, 8-18 E. Church St., Uniontown, PA 15401 or dropped off at the Herald-Standard office during business hours.

Donations will continue to be taken until 5 p.m. Dec. 22, and the final amount collected will be announced in the Christmas Day edition of the Herald-Standard.
