North Union Township adopts 2017 budget
NORTH UNION TWP. — Supervisors unanimously agreed to adopt the final 2017 budget.
During its regular meeting Tuesday, supervisor Rob Tupta proposed the total 2017 budget of $2,756,300, down slightly from last year’s $2,830,100.
It also marks the 58th year without a change in real estate tax, with the millage a .447.
The supervisors also reminded residents to be aware of the township’s snow-removal efforts during winter weather.
Tupta said they cover roughly 160 miles of snow-removal lanes, 80 of which are roads, with an additional 15 to 20 miles of lanes and alleyways.
“We are in defensive mode with snow removal,” Tupta said, while reminding residents that they clear primary roads first and secondary roads afterward, and that it takes longer for plow trucks to turn around or back out of no outlet areas.
Tupta also reminded residents to not park near intersections, and, if possible, to avoid parking on the roads, as both hinder snow-removal efforts.
“Don’t go out if you don’t have to,” he said.
