Mid-Mon Valley municipalities reorganize
Mid-Mon Valley communities kicked off thwe new year, choosing leadership and setting committee responsibilities during reorganization meetings Monday.
n Belle Vernon: Joe Minniti was again chosen president of council. Rich Saxberg will again serve as vice president.
Committee appointments made were: finance, Cliff Gorski; streets, Lou Stiltner; and recreation, Shawn Delaini.
Council meetings will be held the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
n Carroll Township: Tom Rapp was reappointed chairman and Jim Harrison was named vice chairman.
Rapp, Harrison and Supervisor Gary Lenzi were named road supervisors.
Harrison was named the township’s representative to Monongahela Valley Hospital and to the Washington County Sewage Commission.
Rapp and Harrison were named representatives to the Tri-Community Ambulance Service.
Monthly meetings will be held the first Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m.
n California: Patsy Alfano was named council president. Phillip DiFilippo was named vice president with Jon Bittner named president pro tem.
Committee appointments will be made during council’s meeting on Jan. 12. Meetings will be held the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
The firm of Melenzyer and Agrafiotis was chosen as solicitor with Widmer Engineers retained.
n Fallowfield Township: Wilbur Caldwell was named chairman and Bruce Smith as vice chairman and assistant secretary/treasurer.
Supervisor Earl Sadler is road master.
Tom Agrafiotis was reappointed solicitor and Chester Engineers is the township engineering firm.
n New Eagle: Jack Fine was named president of council, and Archie Casebar was selected vice president. Bill Sherry is president pro tem.
The following committee appointments were made: street committee, Sherry and Owen Pucel; recreation, Pucel and Jim Ferguson; borough properties, Casebar and Ferguson; and finance, Casebar and Sherry.
Meetings will be held the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m.
n North Belle Vernon: council president is again Dennis Simboli and vice president will be Barbara Peters.
Committee appointments will be made at the Jan. 12 meeting. Meetings will be held the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
Carl Deicas was named engineer, Mark Ramsier will again by solicitor and Shawn Garber is the zoning officer.
n Rostraver Township: Gary Beck was named chairman of the board of commissioners and Gary Litvany was tabbed as vice chairman.
The following committee appointments were made: recreation, Litvany and Beck; public safety, Pat Egros and Litvany; finance, Ray Iacoboni and Devin DeRienzo; health and welfare, DeRienzo and Iacoboni; and roads, Beck and Egros.
Al Gauio, solicitor, and Deicas, engineer, were retained.
n Washington Township: Dan Moody was named chairman and Jan Amoroso was selected as vice chairwoman and secretary/treasurer.
Chuck Yusko is road master with Amoroso assistant road master.
Superintendent of police is Moody with Amoroso as assistant superintendent.
Township engineering firm is K2 Engineering.
Meetings will be held the second Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m.
