Perry Township awards paving, culvert bids
Perry Township Board of Supervisors awarded contracts for paving and seal coating streets and for an aluminum box culvert.
Supervisors awarded a $73,009 paving and seal coating contact to A.C. Moyer of Lemont Furnace at Tuesday’s meeting.
Moyer submitted the lowest of four bids that were opened at the meeting. The bid included $66,609 for the paving and $6,400 for seal coating. The other bids ranged from $79,621 to $90,619.
Maplewood Road, Maple Heights and Side Road will be paved and coated through the contract.
Supervisors also awarded a $12,475 contract to Chemung Supply of Elmira, New York, for additional sections of an aluminum box culvert, which will be used to replace a bridge carrying Wickhaven Road over an unnamed tributary to the Youghiogheny River.
The township previously purchased prefabricated sections of the culvert for about $15,000, but more pieces were needed to complete the project, said A.J. Boni, chairman of the board of supervisors.
Township workers and representatives from Chemung are assembling and installing the culvert, Boni said.
