New Eagle to fix drainage problem on Second Avenue

NEW EAGLE — During its monthly meeting, council voted to put in a storm system to address a drainage problem on Second Avenue.

The borough will use money from the Washington County Redevelopment Authority to pay for all or most of the project. According to Council President Jack Fine, the authority will solicit bids for a contractor to install the new storm system.

In other action, the council voted to:

n Rescind a motion to solicit bids for a plow truck.

n Replace William Bautz with Linda Hall on the library board.

n Donate $250 to the New Eagle Volunteer Fire Department for Christmas treats that will be distributed to children on Dec. 20.

Also during the meeting, Fine told council that New Eagle has not experienced any flooding since Norfolk Southern Railroad fixed a drainage ditch on Broadway Street. He added that the railroad has volunteered to repair several railroad crossings in New Eagle.
