Sparkle anxious for more donations to Give-A-Christmas
Total: $3,474.85
Goal: $25,000
Sparkle, the Christmas star, is keeping an anxious watch at the Herald-Standard for donations for the Give-A-Christmas campaign that benefits the Salvation Army.
“I know the day after Thanksgiving is a time for activities that include shopping and visiting, but we’re hoping you take a moment to make a donation to the Give-A-Christmas campaign,” she said. “We want to raise $25,000 to benefit the Salvation Army, and we only have a short while to make that goal.”
Herald-Standard readers have contributed $3,474.85 to the campaign so far.
“That means we have to raise more than $21,000. It would be so nice to be able to raise that for the Salvation Army, which does a lot of work in our neighborhoods,” said Sparkle.
Readers can participate by sending donations through the mail or dropping them off at the Herald-Standard office.
Sparkle also wants to call attention to Herald-Standard employees who will be out for a collection for Give-A-Christmas from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 9, at the Uniontown Wal-Mart. Donors will be given copies of the Herald-Standard.
“Let’s turn out to support them,” said Sparkle. “And, please, remember our campaign deadline is not that far away.”
Donations will continue to be received through 5 p.m. Dec. 22. They can be mailed to Give-A-Christmas, c/o Herald-Standard, 8-18 E. Church St., Uniontown, PA 15401 or brought to the Herald-Standard office during business hours.
The final amount collected will be announced in the Christmas Day edition.
