Sparkle wants the gift of giving to continue to Give-A-Christmas
Total: $3,629.85
Goal: $25,000
Sparkle, the Christmas star, wants to see the gift of giving continue with donations at the Herald-Standard to the Give-A-Christmas campaign that benefits the Salvation Army.
“As everyone is busy wrapping up their Black Friday and Small Business Saturday shopping for the holidays, I hope you take time to donate to the Give-A-Christmas campaign,” she said. “It’s better to give than to receive, and we want to raise $25,000 to give to the Salvation Army.”
Herald-Standard readers have contributed $3,629.85 to the campaign so far.
“We still have $21,370.15 more to go so the Salvation Army can be there to better help our neighbors, friends and family in their time of need,” Sparkle said.
Sparkle thanked recent donations from Denise Stalnaker of McClellandtown in memory of Stanley Kronish and from Mary Shetler of Republic in memory of husband Jim and daughter Sharon.
Readers can participate by sending donations through the mail or dropping them off at the Herald-Standard office.
Sparkle also wants to call attention to Herald-Standard employees who will be out for a collection for Give-A-Christmas from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, at the Uniontown Wal-Mart. Donors will be given copies of the Herald-Standard.
“You can donate to a good cause while getting a free edition of the Herald-Standard!” Sparkle said. “Forget the blue-light special, this is a twinkle-light-sparkle special!”
Donations will continue to be received through 5 p.m. on Dec. 22. They can be mailed to Give-A-Christmas, c/o Herald-Standard, 8-18 E. Church St., Uniontown, PA 15401 or brought to the Herald-Standard office during business hours. The final amount collected will be announced in the Christmas Day edition.
