Commissioners seek board, authority applicants

Fayette County commissioners are seeking volunteers to fill several board and authority positions in the upcoming year.

The commission oversees the appointment process to a variety of panels, including the Agricultural Land Preservation board where six positions will expire at the end of the year or in early January.

In addition to two farmer representatives, the vacancies include a citizen-at-large, nonagricultural, farm and commercial/industrial/residential contractor representatives.

A lone position on the Fayette County Airport Authority will be available in January, while three positions on the Fayette County Hotel Tax Grant board will expire Dec. 31.

The county Housing Authority, Industrial Development Authority and Laurel Highlands Visitors Bureau will have one vacancy at the end of the year.

The commissioners will fill two positions on the Planning, Zoning and Community Development board and one post on the county Redevelopment Authority as the term of the current members will expire.

Three positions on the Fayette County Tax Assessment Appeals board are set to expire on Dec. 31, while two seats will be vacant on the Regional Trail Corporation at the same time.

Multiple seats on the Southwestern PA Commission’s public participation panel will become available at the end of the year, with several seats on the Fayette County Transportation executive committee set to expire.

A category-one builder and category-two engineer will be needed to fill the year-end vacancies on the county UCC Appeals board with a full time and alternate position vacancy occurring on the county zoning hearing board.

Single positions on the Emergency Medical Services board and Southwestern PA Human Service will also expire Dec. 31.

Any resident willing to serve on a board or authority should submit a letter of interest to the county commissioners. Letters should be directed to Joe Ambrose, Fayette County Commissioners Office, 61 E. Main St., Uniontown, PA 15401. Emailed letters can be sent to Ambrose at jambrose@fayettepa.org.

Letters will be accepted through Dec. 9 with interviews of the candidates to be conducted by commissioners.
