Lee Supply has supported the United Way campaign for as long as company president Kevin Lee can recall.

This year, the Charleroi company will set the pace.

The United Way of Mon Valley officially kicked off its 2016 annual campaign this week with Lee Supply named as the 2016 Company Pacesetter.

“We are very excited about the start of the 2016 campaign and happy to have Lee Supply Company as our pacesetter,” Phil Sparacella, president/chief executive officer of the United Way of the Mon Valley.

“The local employer portion is the heart of the campaign, and we appreciate their corporate and employee support.”

Lee said his company was pleased to accept the lead role.

“We take that as an honor,” Lee said. “We’re a big supporter for the community. We always support the United Way.”

This year’s campaign involves 32 major employers, five school districts and nine agencies as well as individuals and small businesses, county and state employees, and numerous regional contributions.

“The United Way of Mon Valley will continue to put a strong emphasis on keeping your dollars local,” said Sparacello. “Last year, the United Way of Mon Valley Impact Fund joined as partners with more than 20 nonprofit programs in the Mon Valley to help bring real and lasting changes in our area.”

Sparacella said the United Way of Mon Valley Impact Fund provides grants to Valley agencies and programs that support low-to-moderate income families.

The impact fund addresses the local issues such as children and elderly services and helping with financial stability in the area, said Pam Messina, director/campaign management for the United Way of the Mon Valley.

“We are looking forward to working with local employers, our five school districts and the communities to help provide leadership and financial support for the Impact Fund programs and agencies,” said Messina.

Lee said he is pleased that the United Way supports the Mon Valley YMCA as well as the Mon Valley Citadel of the Salvation Army. Lee is vice president of the Mon Valley YMCA board. But he said the company’s employees can freely chose which programs they want their contributions to benefit.

“The United Way helps others in need, and we support that,” Lee said.

Lee supply is one of the valley’s most celebrated companies, marking 62 years in business in 2016. It remains a family business. Mike Lee, Kevin Lee’s father, is CEO, and Dave Lee is CFO. Kevin’s brother, Shawn, is vice president.
