Early learning investment to be chamber luncheon topic
Audrey Russo, president and chief executive officer of the Pittsburgh Technology Council, will be the keynote speaker at a luncheon April 11 in the Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center on the campus of Monongahela Valley Hospital. The event is being hosted by the Mon Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Registration and networking will begin at 11:45 a.m. The luncheon session will conclude at 1 p.m.
Russo’s will discuss Gov. Wolf’s Pennsylvania Early Learning Investment Commission.
Founded in 2007, the Pennsylvania Early Learning Investment Commission “provides an ongoing forum to educate and engage business leaders as knowledgeable, effective advocates and to improve public sector investment in quality early learning,” according to Administration for Children and Families Office of Child Care.
The commission is focused on early learning.
“She is going tell us how the business community and the community at large can invest in children when they are young so they can become our future,” said, said Deb Keefer, executive director of the Mon Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce.
“I’ve always felt that’s where we are missing our message. I think we can do so much more when they are in the primary levels, to promote careers, work ethics and professionalism.”
Keefer said school board directors and administrators from all Mid-Mon Valley districts have been invited to attend.
The cost is $16 per person for chamber members and $18 for nonmembers.
Reservations may be made by calling the chamber at 724-483-3507 or on line at www.mvrchamber.org
