Sparkle hopeful for more donations to Give-A-Christmas
Total: $525
Goal: $25,000
Sparkle, the Christmas star, is worried but still hopeful.
“We haven’t received any new donations for Give-A-Christmas, and I’m concerned,” said Sparkle. “The calendar has turned, and it’s now December. We only have a few short weeks, and we want to raise $25,000 to help the Salvation Army in our readership area. But I really believe that Herald-Standard readers will come through.”
Sparkle is encouraging Herald-Standard readers to contribute to the holiday fund drive now.
“It can make a difference to a lot of people in your own communities. These funds will be used to help your neighbors,” said Sparkle.
Donations will be collected until noon Dec. 22 and the grand total will be announced in the Christmas Eve edition of the Herald-Standard.
Donors can mail contributions to Give-A-Christmas, c/o Herald-Standard, 8-18 E. Church St., Uniontown, PA 15401 or bring them to the Herald-Standard office in Uniontown from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Donors may also text “HSSPARKLE” 41444 (standard text messaging rates may apply) or donate through the internet at http://salvationarmywpa.org/giveachristmas.
There will also be two special collection days with volunteers from the Herald-Standard and SWC Realty.
The first will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 15 on the corner of Crawford Avenue and Arch Street in Connellsville. Funds collected will benefit the Salvation Army in Connellsville.
The second will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 22 at the Walmart in Uniontown. These funds will benefit the Salvation Army in Uniontown.
“If you are thinking of participating in the campaign,” said Sparkle, “won’t you do it today?”
