Antiques and Artisans on the Avenue returns to Mon Valley
Many successful fairs and events grow each year.
For Antiques and Artisans on the Avenue, the event is growing in name as well as scope.
This is the fourth year for the event, which will be held 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 22. It will be held rain or shine.
Begun in 2014, it started as Antiques on the Avenue with shop owners showcasing their wares.
“We thought we needed a day to showcase what is available on Broad Avenue,” said Gina Lynn, executive director of the Greater Rostraver Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber sponsors the event.
“It is so easy to overlook what we have in our communities. From there, the antique stores started to bring in outside antique dealers, and it grew from there.”
Lynn said the event has been extended to include artisans, including everything from handcrafted, domestic-made products, such as natural or wooden products and hand-made jewelry.
Merchants will already be open all along Broad Avenue, Lynn said. Vendors will set up all along the business district of North Belle Vernon, from the 300 to 1100 blocks of Broad Avenue.
Vendors applications can be obtained by calling the chamber office at 724-929-3329.
“We will space them out so people will travel from one end of Broad Avenue to the other,” Lynn said.
No food vendors will be accepted as visitors are encouraged to visit establishments along Broad Avenue, from the American Legion, which is open on Saturdays and has a new cook, to Frosty Mugs, Jakes Pizza, Just a Tavern and Foster House.
