MVH auxilliary dinner planned this month
The 35th annual auxiliary appreciation dinner will be held June 26 in the Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center.
During the event, the auxiliary typically presents a check to the hospital, representing funds they raised during the year.
They also present a scholarship to a “volunteen.” Volunteens, a wing of the auxiliary, are teens who volunteer at the hospital.
Auxiliary members who have reached milestone years of service to the auxiliary will also be recognized at the annual event.
In addition, the auxiliary will hold its annual strawberry festival, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Anthony M. Lombard Education Conference Center and the outdoor Central Plaza at Monongahela Valley Hospital.
At the festival, auxiliary volunteers sell sweet sausage sandwiches with grilled onions and peppers, strawberry spinach salad, pizza, broccoli salad and strawberry shortcake as well as baked goods, charms and jewelry, candles, jams and jellies and a variety of plants and flowers.
Disc jockey Bill Lemon will provide music.
“The Auxiliary’s strawberry festival is one of my favorite fund-raising activities,” said Ruth Antonelli, auxiliary president. “We are looking forward to this event, and we invite the public to attend and enjoy delicious food, home baked goods, and musical entertainment. In addition, the public can purchase plants, flowers and other gift items.”
It has already been a big year for Antonelli, who was presented with The Rossomme Award for Dimensions in Volunteer Service at the hospital 29th annual gala.
