Grindstone business seeks additional hires
Following a successful first year, a local call center is looking to bring on an additional 100 jobs.
“So far, we need about 100 to start in September alone,” said Joshua White, human resources coordinator for ContactUS in Grindstone.
White attributes the influx of jobs to a new client, who will occupy nearly half of the new hires.
“We have about 15 to 20 clients total between our two locations, four of them being in Redstone Township,” White said, also referring to their other location in Columbus, Ohio.
The clients include one in the automotive industry and three in high-end women’s retail lines. Those employed at the call center handle everything from processing customer orders over the phone to customer follow-up when concerns are brought to their attention.
ContactUS moved into the former Teleperformance building and retained about 120 of their employees. White said Teleperformance did damage to the community by continually hiring and laying off employees.
“We consider ourselves different from other call centers. We offer job security,” White said, adding that employees don’t have to worry about clients leaving or mass layoffs. He also noted that the benefit package and incentives, combined with a good office morale, makes it an enjoyable place to work.
In the past year, White said business has been really smooth.
“When we initially opened, a lot of people in the area still thought we were Teleperformance,” he said with a laugh.
Since April 2016 when they opened their doors, White said they have doubled the full-time headcount.
“And the more people we hire, the more supervisors we’ll need — the more workforce management and IT people we need,” he added. “There’s a lot of room for advancement here.”
The company also recently increased their hourly rate from $9.50 to $9.75, with an additional .25 cent raise after 90 days. Though they typically seek full-time employees, they can accommodate part-time shifts.
“And what sets us apart is we have schedules to fit your needs,” White said, referring to employees who are students or have another job. Perspective employees are asked to go to their website www.contactusinc.com or check them out on Indeed, White said.
“We’re very excited about this move,” he said.
