Belle Vernon native returns to area to perform Elvis tribute show
Recording artist and entertainer Jason Whited, a Belle Vernon native now living in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, will return to his hometown to honor the King of Rock n’ Roll by showcasing Elvis Presley’s memory and songs.
The event, which has no cover charge, will be held 8-11 p.m. July 27 at Sweeney’s Steakhouse in Rostraver Township.
Whited, a 1989 graduate from Belle Vernon Area High School, has been singing and performing professionally for over two decades. A life-time enthusiast of Elvis, Whited displays his admiration and respect for the famous icon throughout his “Musical Tribute to Elvis” shows and concert performances and said his passion for keeping Elvis’ music and memory alive is the ultimate goal behind his fresh and fan-appealing tribute act.
“I love singing the songs Elvis performed and made so popular. I try to create a fun-filled and family friendly atmosphere of musical celebration while performing the most well-known and popular songs of Elvis for fans of all ages — everyone really seems to enjoy my shows,” he said. “And honestly, I’m having fun doing it.”
Apart from his Elvis Tribute concerts, Whited has enjoyed a successful career as an award-winning singer, songwriter and country music recording artist. Over the years, he has recorded three albums in Nashville, “Scarecrow King,” (Americana); “Big Time,” (Traditional Country); and “Doo Wop Dreams.” His country song “Big Time” reached number one on the radio charts in Europe and stayed on the top European Country Music Radio charts fora over 13 weeks. His songs and music can be followed on Spotify, ITunes, Pandora, as well as other popular online music websites.
“It seems no matter where I go, the folks in my audiences are terrific, they always make me feel welcome and are some of the most enthusiastic Elvis fans I’ve ever seen,” he said. “I’m hoping to see a lot of my former friends, teachers and classmates at my show in Rostraver. It will be great to return to my old stomping grounds where I grew up. I am really excited about being able to perform back in my home town. I used to live about a mile away from Sweeney’s Steakhouse — lots of good memories.”
