Dr. Rich Constantine, a Uniontown native and dentist in Greenville, S.C., and his wife Trish have been surprised at all of the attention surrounding his recent Facebook video taking part in the “In My Feelings” challenge.

If you’ve logged onto Facebook lately, you probably have come across a video of a dancing dentist who decided to take part in the “Kiki Challenge,” busting out “The Shiggy” at his dental offices in Greenville, S.C.

The video, which has had over 60 million views in just over a week, has become a topic of conversation around the water cooler, surprising Dr. Rich Constantine, a Uniontown native, with all of the media attention.

The “In My Feelings” challenge or “Kiki” challenge hit the social media track hard after internet comedian Shiggy posted a video of himself dancing on the streets on June 30.

While Shiggy’s video didn’t involve any vehicle, NFL star Odell Beckham Jr., who joined the challenge a few days later, can be seen stepping out of his stationary car, which is creating havoc as thousands are posting videos of themselves stepping out of a moving car to dance to Drake’s song, “In My Feelings.”

Constantine took part in the challenge, with no car involved, titling his dance “In My Fillings” as a play on his line of work as a dentist.

Just yesterday, Constantine used the springboard from that success to release a new video.

While dancing at weddings and having dance battles with his wife Trish Constantine at their home, the dentist said he’s had no formal lessons in dancing unless you count the fooling around as a high-schooler at Uniontown Area High School.

Constantine, whose family owns Constantine Farms in Smock, graduated from the Uniontown School District in 1999, where his father (the late Rich Constantine) was an administrator and principal for over 30 years.

He was heavily involved in athletics and played football for the Red Raiders, mostly hanging out at friends’ houses during those years.

From there, Constantine went to, and played football for, Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, where he met his wife Trish.

He attended dental school at West Virginia University and before settling down, the couple decided to do some traveling to see where they wanted to live and raise a family.

“We both wanted to live somewhere where it was sunnier and warmer, but we didn’t want to be too far from home,” Rich Constantine said.

They fell in love with Greenville, S.C., and he opened up a dental practice there.

Recently, after the “In My Feelings” Constantine’s office staff kept suggesting that he participate in the challenge.

A couple weeks later, after they all went to lunch, the dentist set up his camera and went through with the challenge.

“I knew I would be too embarrassed to do it in front of all of them, so I waited until they had all left,” Constantine said.

As for the impressive dance moves, Constantine said he looked up how to do the dance on YouTube and after a few practice rounds, he “let it roll.”

“We like to do fun things around here to break up the seriousness and to keep the atmosphere light and fun,” he said. “I wanted to show a personable side and to reach out to people that might have had a negative experience going to the dentist.”

The idea worked as the next morning the phones in the office rarely stopped ringing, he said.

“Our office manager was very busy Friday morning,” he said.

A lot of comments from women were posted on the video, including ones that said, “I found myself looking for his wedding ring, then remembered that I’m married,” and “I have 12 wisdom teeth that need to be pulled, and I think my baby teeth are trying to come back…I need an appointment immediately, yesterday, right now!”

And regardless of all of the attention, Constantine said he and his wife are having fun with it.

“It’s just been so fun,” he said. “(My wife) is just happy that so many people have gotten to see the goof ball that normally only she sees.”

Constantine added that his mother, Marcia Constantine, has enjoyed watching all of the news coverage.

“She thinks it’s all very fun and silly,” he said.

Constantine couldn’t say whether the dance videos would continue into the future, but agreed that it has been a fun experience to this point.
