Charleroi trash concerns addressed by company

By Mark Soroka for The 2 min read

CHARLEROI — The owner of Big’s Sanitation pledged to take care of any concerns borough residents have about their garbage pickup service.

Joseph Eori, president of Big’s Sanitation & Trucking, addressed council during its monthly meeting, letting officials know his company will promptly follow up to resolve all complaints.

“Just call us and we will address the problem,” said Eori, who promised to tell his staff to return empty trash cans to the sidewalk. “We have cameras on all of our trucks. That will tell me everything I need to know.”

Council President Jerry Jericho asked Eori to hold off picking up garbage until daybreak. Eori noted that his company is under pressure to deliver garbage to the landfill by 2:30 p.m. but said he will comply with Jericho’s request.

Eori also asked residents not to put out garbage too early.

“Animals have a tendency to tear apart garbage that’s sitting out too long,” he said. “And that’s what leads to problems with litter falling onto the street.”
