Charleroi School District hires new business manager

By Mark Soroka for The 1 min read

The Charleroi school board unanimously voted to hire Joseph Gudac as the district’s new business manager.

Gudac, who currently serves as business manager for Beth-Center School District, will replace Crystal Clark, who will be leaving Charleroi Area School District on Nov. 22 for a similar position with Belle Vernon Area School District.

Superintendent Dr. Ed Zelich said Gudac quickly stood out in a large pool of candidates.

“As we narrowed down our candidates from 14 to four and to two, Joseph kept coming out on top,” said Dr. Zelich. “He has excellent problem-solving skills, particularly with budgets. He presented our board with a viable financial plan for the future of our district.”

Gudac, who will be signing a 42-month contract with Charleroi Area School District, will start his position at a salary of $65,000 per year. Dr. Zelich said he will be working with Beth-Center School District on a transition plan to expedite the start date for Gudac at Charleroi.

In other business, the board:

n Hired Nathan Fiala as high school special education teacher

n Approved a memorandum of understanding with the Charleroi Education Support Professionals Association regarding classroom aides

n Approved to increase the substitute support personnel pay rate to $10 per hour
