Sparkle the Christmas star is ready for the holiday season.

“As we start the countdown to Christmas, we hope everyone can set aside some time from the hustle and bustle to remember that others are in need,” Sparkle said. “The 2023 Herald-Standard Give-A-Christmas campaign is a great way to reach those who may need some help.”

The 38th annual campaign aims to raise $18,000 to benefit local units of The Salvation Army. The funds raised support its programs, and will stay within the communities from which the donations came.

“We have our first donations for this year’s campaign, and we are so thankful for the kindness,” Sparkle said.

Last year’s campaign goal was to raise $15,000. Through the kindness and giving of many, a total of $29,840 was raised.

n Dan and Eva Broadwater of Uniontown, in member of The Salvation Army officers, Capt. Grace (Fulmer) Shannon and Lt. Col. Clifford R. Hall

All donors are welcome to include notes honoring or memorializing loved ones, or messages to Herald-Standard readers.

Contributions for the Sparkle campaign can be mailed to Give-A-Christmas, c/o Herald-Standard, 8 E. Church St., Uniontown, Pa., 15401. Checks should be made out to Give-A-Christmas. Additionally, donations may be dropped off at the newspaper office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
