GEORGES TWP. — The Fayette County Career and Technical Institute’s (CTI) joint operating committee this week approved a compensation plan that provides pay raises for seven employees.
The committee unanimously authorized a wage plan for certain administrative and support staff for the 2018-19 school year that includes a pay increase of 2 percent.
The plan applies to seven non-contracted employee positions.
Covered under the plan is the school’s executive director, technology coordinator, financial accounting coordinator, adult education coordinator, secretary to the director and two maintenance positions.
Two employees who have been rated as “distinguished” on a performance scale will receive one-time stipends of $500 and $300, respectively.
According to committee solicitor Gary Frankhouser, Executive Director Dr. Cynthia Shaw is included in the plan because while she has her own individual contract, there is no provision in it that stipulates pay increases.
In a separate move, the committee also approved a three-year contract for LouAnn Patterson, director of the school’s licensed practical nursing (LPN) program. The new contract provides a pay increase of 2 percent and amends the contract year to 240 working days.
Turning to other matters, Shaw reported that the school received a letter from South Union Township officials thanking CTI students for constructing 20 picnic tables for the Lick Hollow Picnic Area.
“Both the students and teachers are excited to have projects like this,” said Shaw.
Shaw said students have expressed interest in contacting Uniontown city officials in providing similar assistance to Marshall Park after reading of its lack of picnic amenities.
Shaw also reported that 645 students were enrolled at the CTI as of the first day of school Monday.
A parking lot paving project at the school was completed last week.
