The Laurel Highlands School Board recently approved three personnel moves to fill administrative positions.

Over two meetings this month, the board has filled three openings in a shuffling of roles following a vacancy to the multi-faceted position of federal programs coordinator/assistant to curriculum and instruction/food service director.

At a special meeting Nov. 6, Marshall Elementary School Principal Jason Johns was selected to serve in that position. Johns replaces Eric Gaydos, whose resignation the board accepted last month. Gaydos recently took on an administrative role with the West Greene School District.

The board subsequently appointed Dr. Jessica Scott, middle school assistant principal, to take the reins of Marshall Elementary as building principal.

On Tuesday, the board approved Bobbi Downs as middle school assistant principal. Downs is a third grade teacher at Hatfield Elementary School.

Also Tuesday, the board:

n Approved for obsolete and unused equipment to be auctioned at the Fayette Career and Technical Institute (CTI).

n Approved the donation of used metal detectors to the CTI.

n Tabled a motion to ratify a four-year contract with the AFL-CIO, AFSCME, which represents district custodial-maintenance and cafeteria employees. Last month, a board vote failed to ratify the contract.

n Announced it will hold its annual reorganization meeting at 6 p.m. Dec. 3 in the high school library, with the regular board meeting to follow. A work session will be held at 5 p.m.
