Geibel spelling bee winner named

Geibel Catholic Junior High students recently competed in a spelling bee as part of Catholic Schools Week activities. Eighth-grade student Avery Anderson (holding certificate) emerged as the winner. Grace Cline (left) and Eva Lypson (right) were runners-up. They are pictured with Dr. Karen Croftcheck, English teacher. Avery will compete at the Western Pennsylvania Spelling Bee sponsored by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, which will be held at Robert Morris University.
