In 2007, the American School Bus Council launched its “Love the Bus” campaign in Illinois. Since then, states across the country have participated in the month-long celebration. The event celebrates the importance and role of the yellow school bus in education, with a focus on thanking the school bus drivers for safely transporting more than 25 million children to and from school every day across the nation. The event raises an appreciation for the experience of riding the bus to and from school, and to recognize the diverse group of professionals whose daily efforts make the yellow school bus part of the educational process. Students at Menallen School, part of the Uniontown Area School District and whose principal is Joe Galie, were given “2019 Stop for Safety” color sheets to remind individuals to STOP when children are loading or unloading from the bus. Bus drivers and staff from Rittenhouse Bus Lines Inc., judged the coloring pictures and chose a first-place winner from each grade.
