Remember when?

This is photo of John T. Wardman that appeared in the Herald-Standard on Aug. 4, 1989. Wardman was an active member of the Brownsville Fire Co. Number 1 (North Side) for 50 years from 1933 until 1983, serving as driver, engineer and president for 26 years. He was also secretary of the Fayette County Firefighters Organization for 20 years, a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 39 years, a member of the Odd Fellows of Brownsville for 20 years and the lead tenor of the First Methodist Church choir in Brownsville for many years. He died on Jan. 8, 1998, at the age of 88, three days after being honored by the Greater Brownsville Area Chamber of Commerce as its Citizen of the Year.
