Give-A-Christmas campaign exceeds its goal
Total: $26,057.62
Goal: $18,000
Sparkle’s eyes filled with tears.
The Give-A-Christmas mascot was ever so happy.
“We surpassed our goal!” Sparkle exclaimed.
As more contributions came in on Friday, the campaign benefitting local units of The Salvation Army reached $26,057.62 thanks in great part to a generous check from an anonymous donor identified only as a friend from Texas.
“I am so thankful for each and every donation that came into our campaign this year. The money our readers have given will help to support many programs at The Salvation Army locations in Fayette County,” Sparkle said.
This was the 38th year for the Herald-Standard’s Give-A-Christmas campaign.
Publisher Michael Scott said he is always awed by the generosity of the campaign’s many donors.
“Local units of The Salvation Army are an important part of Fayette County. They provide services to community members who need a helping hand, and our newspaper is proud to support their efforts,” he said.
Sparkle offered a heartfelt thanks to all who supported the campaign.
“Giving is at the heart of the holiday season, and we’re lucky to have so many people who truly care about those around them. Until next year, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,” Sparkle said.
In addition to the campaign’s friend from Texas, additional donations came from:
