A Ligonier man accused of delivering drugs that led to the death of a Connellsville man in 2002.

Justin Logan Kelly, 45, was charged with drug delivery resulting in death after police said they discovered Matthew Myers, 41, of Connellsville had overdosed on a combination of drugs that included fentanyl, heroin, ethanol and citalopram.

According to a criminal complaint, on Jan. 24, 2022 at around 4:40 p.m. Connellsivlle police responded to a report of a cardiac arrest at 221 East Peach St. Officers found Myers unresponsive on the bedroom floor, showing signs of having been deceased for some time. Police said evidence at the scene, including two empty stamp bags and a syringe, suggested a drug overdose with “no obvious sign of struggle.”

Police said an autopsy confirmed that Myers died from acute intoxication due to a lethal mix of fentanyl, heroin, ethanol, and citalopram. Authorities obtained a search warrant for Myers’ cellphone and found text messages between him and Kelly discussing drug transactions. Police said the two set up a meeting to purchase drugs just hours before Myers’ death.

Kelly has yet to be arraigned in the case.
