West Overton presents play by Heritage Singers
The West Overton Museums in Scottdale said tickets are on sale for the 2002 Heritage Play, performed by the Heritage Singers. “J.D. Hill and His Dreams of Flight,’ the 25th original musical play for the Heritage Singers, was written by Rodney Sturtz.
The theme of the play is a musical tribute to J.D. Hill, “The Birdboy of Scottdale.”
Hill, a Scottdale native, became a famous aeroplane pilot and known all over the country for his innovations for flying and work with airplane engines.
The music is from the World War I era and the late 1920s. Regular admission tickets may be purchased at the Scottdale Library, 231 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, the Laurel Highlands Chamber of Commerce, 537 W. Main St., Mount Pleasant, or at West Overton Museums at a cost of $10 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under.
Only 128 tickets will be sold for each of the seven performances: Sept. 20, 21 and 22 and Sept. 26, 27, 28 and 29.
Evening shows start at 7:30 p.m. while Sunday matinees start at 2:30 p.m.
The theater will open one-half hour before show times.
Seating is on a first-come first-seated basis. There is no reserved seating.
As always, ice cream sundaes will be served by the cast following each performance.
