‘That Dam Ride To Confluence’ to offer bicycling, camping
There are three mileage options. Participants can ride the packed limestone Youghiogheny River trail 30 miles each way leaving from Connellsville or 69 miles each way leaving from Boston, Pa. A third option, the Tour de Confluence, features an approximate 10-mile guided riding tour of the Confluence area and starts in Confluence on Saturday, Sept. 7.
For those starting in Boston or Connellsville, a $59 entry fee covers gear transport both ways, rest stops, lunches, dinner, camping, entertainment, prize drawings and an event T-shirt.
The Tour de Confluence includes dinner, a T-shirt, entertainment and camping at a cost of $29.
Pre-registration is required and ends today.
In Confluence, riders enjoy the hospitality of the Confluence Tourism Association and a homemade pasta dinner prepared and served by Trinity Lutheran Church.
The evening entertainment will be held in Confluence town square and will feature tales and music by a railroad re-enactor, courtesy of the National Park Service.
For a small donation, tents are available, including setup, from Boy Scout Troop 15.
Alternatively, riders can “indoor camp” through the Confluence fire hall or a local church.
