Art club to host sale The Uniontown Art Club will host its annual Christmas Sale from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
The sale will be held in the lobby of the Uniontown Public Library on Jefferson Street. Unique handcrafted gifts created by local artists will be available.
In addition, the art club in conjunction with the Uniontown Public Library will accept suggestions to name the statue at the library that the art club commissioned. Interested people may make their suggestions on ballots available at the library. Saturday will be the final day to make suggestions.
Artist Laura DeFazio, along with a committee, will consider the suggestions. Information on purchasing a memorial brick is also available at the library from any Uniontown Art Club member or by calling Nadine at 724-437-2799.
Local woman performs
Virginia Intermont College announced that Meredith Davis of Uniontown performed in “Accelerando” during Family Weekend, which was held Nov. 1-3 in Trayer Theatre on campus.
Davis, daughter of Samuel and Jean Davis, is a senior majoring in theater. Her stage experience includes roles in “The Wind and the Willows,” “42nd Street” and “Give My Regards to Broadway.” She has displayed her singing ability for the National Cancer Walk, the Anthony Crane Anniversary and many other benefits and sporting events. Davis has also auditioned for the Mickey Mouse Club.
“Accelerando” by Lisa Loomer is a romantic comedy that spans an entire nighttime because with the way the world is speeding up now days a nighttime is really what a lifetime use to be. While “Accelerando” revolves around the timeless “boy meets girl” theme, signs of the times appear throughout.
The playwright takes every opportunity to include portraits of pop culture. The show introduces several languages and cultures.
